The Revolutionary Chicken Automatic Chicken Door Opener will allow your chickens to close their own door at night and open it each morning. You will never have to change batteries, set timers, or worry about power outages. When the chickens roost, their weight causes the door to go down. When they hop off their roost, the door goes back up. It is a simple mechanical solution to an age-old problem: keeping chickens safe from predators without having to manually open and close their door twice a day.
The door opener is estimated at less than $40 to build. This design can be used by 3-6 chickens in a coop 4 feet long X 3 1/2 feet wide X 3 ft tall (minimum). However, you can alter these plans to come up with something that will work for your own coop and flock’s size.
