Be your chickens’ hero by offering freshly sprouted grains! Germination greatly enhances the nutritional content of seeds and legumes, as well as reducing phytates or anti-nutrients. More of the food is digested, so chickens require less. And the chickens love it!
To make sprouts using the sprouting kit, soaking grains in a mason jar (not included) for 8-10 hours. With the mesh lid on, drain the jar, and then leave it tipped upside down on the stand so that all of the water comes out onto the tray. Rinse twice a day for two more days, and then it’s time to harvest. You can feed the sprouts to your chickens or eat them yourself! Try sprouting a combination of seeds for your chickens such as wheat, barley, sunflower seeds, etc.
