The Revolutionary Chicken Barrel Feeder DIY Kit allows you to make a very large and efficient feeder for a very low cost. It’s great for large flocks, or if you just want to go on vacation! The kit includes the feeder ports, 3 1/2 in hole saw bit, and instructions. It does NOT include a barrel. You can generally find used barrels on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace.
Chickens stick their heads into 90° ports to eat, so the *feed stays in the feeder. Hoods and a rubber gasket on each feeder port keep the feed protected from rain, and the slick surface of the feeder prevents mice from climbing in. The ports are also designed with chickens’ comfort in mind. There are no corners or sharp edges that will irritate their necks as they eat.
Plan on about four chickens per feeding port, so the four port version can feed up to 16 chickens. The six port version can feed up to 24 chickens. If you have more chickens, don’t worry–they will eventually all get their fill. If you have small chickens, you can put a brick underneath a port as a “stepstool.”
To assemble, drill 4-6 holes in your barrel with the hole saw bit , and push the feeding ports inside the holes. The notches on the ports lock them into place.
Place the feeder on an 8″ base, like a cinder block (not included) for full-grown chickens. Chicks should be at least 12 weeks old to use this feeder.
*Note: Chickens will waste food that they can differentiate and pick through, such as whole grain, even with this feeder port. If you want to use whole grain feed, check out the rain gutter feeder.

These barrels are perfect. Shipping was quick and the feeding ports are significantly better than any cheap kit you get on Amazon, much larger and extend to the bottom of the barrel to ensure maximum use of feed

I have had chicken for 51 years. I cannot comprehend how much feed this would have saved. My husband saw it this morning and took it to the farm for the flock there, leaving me to order another for my home flock. He wants it to go in with the free range farm flock. I think these could revolutionize the chicken feeder industry!

I’ve had chickens for years and always thought I was conservative on feed. These are amazing! I cannot believe how much feed I used to use!
It took my chickens a week to figure out how to use them. Now they love them as much as I do.
Mine are right out in the weather and they truly are weather proof, and mouse proof. I’ve recommended these feeders to friends because I’ve never been so impressed with feeders before.
The owner is so helpful, too!

I’m a first time chicken owner of 10 chickens. I bought this feeder and it works so great! I have very little waste and what little falls on the ground the chickens eat up! They figured out how to use with within minutes and I’m very happy I bought it. The owner was very quick to respond to my questions and she shipped my items quickly.

I’m so happy with this purchase, our chickens were flinging food onto the ground with their precious feeder.. This will save us a lot of money in the long run! Mice proof is what led us to this shop, that’s a huge bonus, along with weather proof so we can keep it in our run rather than in the coop.

Love this barrel. Use it for my ducks and they do great with it! I’m now going to purchase another one for my chickens.
