Build your own low-waste chicken feeder with our easy-to-install, patent-pending feeder ports. Simply choose a suitable plastic container—flat-sided containers work best—and add the ports where you want your chickens to eat.
The unique port design helps keep feed in the feeder instead of on the ground. Chickens reach down into the port to eat, while the outer lip helps catch feed that gets pulled upward so it can remain available for the flock rather than spilling out. In our comparative testing, these patent-pending ports reduced feed waste by up to 15× compared with common feeder-port designs.
Installation is simple:
- Drill a 3½-inch (89 mm) hole in your container using a hole saw.
- Slide the included rubber gasket onto the feeder port.
- Push the port into the hole until the four locking tabs engage behind the container wall.
No screws or complicated hardware are required. The hole saw is not included and is available separately.
For most flocks, we recommend using two feeder ports for every 6–8 chickens. Square-sided containers usually provide the easiest and most secure fit.
The hood and gasket help protect feed from rain, while the smooth design helps discourage mice from climbing into the feeder. Optional feeder-port covers are also available for temporarily closing individual ports, especially where rats may be a concern.
These feeder ports are suitable for chickens, ducks, pheasants, peafowl, and female turkeys. Fully grown male turkeys may be too large for the opening.
*Note: Chickens may still waste feed they can sort through and selectively pick apart, such as whole-grain feed. For whole grains, consider our Rain Gutter Feeder instead.

These Feeder Ports are awesome! I’m SO glad I got these instead of trying to make my own from standard PVC elbow fittings. My hole saw only went as large as 2 1/2″, but no problem as Amy sells the hole saw you need too. And she shipped everything out same day as ordered. Very happy with purchase – now my chickies are going to get an extreme make-over to their feeding system!

Such a great feeding system! Amy had my order ready same day for pickup. I ordered the ports and drill kit. My chickens are already eating away! I’m so excited to have a larger barrel feeder so I don’t have to refill as often. Thanks Amy for your ingenious products!

These are the best feeders. The hoods are longer than other brands I have seen which do a better job at keeping rain out. Seller did a great job of getting products to me in a timely manner
